Teaching and Mentoring

My teaching and mentoring philosophy focuses on empowering students to succeed inside and outside the classroom by increasing engagement, developing critical thinking skills, and understanding how to transfer these and other skills outside the classroom. These aims work in tandem to increase students’ achievements and confidence, particularly for underrepresented and underserved students.

I value teaching and mentoring students in research because as an underrepresented student myself, I recognize the pivotal role teaching and mentoring played in my development as a scholar. In turn, I wish to participate in the development of the next generation of students.
